At OW Bunker we’ve always been dedicated to promoting a safer, cleaner planet. From the start, we’ve taken the utmost precautions to ensure safety in all bunkering procedures and minimize the likelihood of accidents. While it’s our policy to keep accidents and pollution from happening in the first place, we respond quickly and professionally in event of emergency. As a result we have low accident rates and excellent safety statistics to show for ourselves.
Our proactive role in safeguarding global waters involves working with the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) and participating in the EU’s oil response program. We have five tankers on standby in the Baltic prepared to respond in event of an oil spill. Each has been pre-fitted with an advanced clean-up system that we’ve developed in partnership with one of the world’s leading oil-spill recovery specialists, Lamor Company AB Finland (www.lamor.com).
In line with OW Bunker’s strict focus on quality in all its products and services, we employ state-of-the-art ships and equipment. Our technical department continuously monitors vessel safety, and the bunkering procedures we employ are regularly updated to conform to changes in national and international regulations. In addition, all our ship officers are IMO certified as oil responders.
Growing eco-awareness and environmental responsibility in the industry has led to the establishment of sulphur emission control areas (SECA). Naturally, we deliver fuel compliant with the regulations in these areas as well as in other areas upon request.
