Trainee Programme

(Left to right) Raphael Giemsa, Alexandros Zontos, Mlamli Figlan, Rasmus Holm Jensen, Mads Buchwald, Tatiana Carretero.

In order to attract and retain employees, and as a key element of the business strategy, OW Bunker continues to expend a significant amount of resources on job training and the development of staff competencies and skill sets.

The Group’s global presence plays an important role, as trainees, recent graduates and executives are developed both personally and professionally in multiple locations and in different cultures. This acts as a catalyst for positively challenging the way in which the organisation thinks and acts.

In 2006 OW Bunker launched an ambitious, industry leading global training programme for selected new recruits and graduates. The programme takes two years and focuses on international competence development and sales training. Furthermore, we have courses on the shipping industry and related markets, risk management and internal courses on OW Bunker’s business strategy and brand. Each trainee also spends a period of time in a foreign location in order to understand different cultures and to help integration between the international offices.

If you are interested in joining OW Bunker’s graduate training programme, please send your CV with a covering letter to: jobs@owbunker.com

The experience and knowledge that we develop on all aspects of fuel supply is phenomenal. It gives you a real confidence in dealing with customers because we have an understanding and an insight into the challenges that they face. It is also invaluable in helping to create networks within the Group. While we are a global company, there is a culture that transcends geographic boundaries. The whole experience has been a real education and provided great personal development as well as enhancing my skill sets and future job potential.

Tatiana Carretero, 2010 graduate.

We are well aware that the success of the company is based on the quality of our people. It’s critical that as we continue to grow at such a fast pace, we ensure that new talent coming into OW Bunker has the ability, knowledge and understanding of how we work, and that they can perform at the highest levels of excellence and customer service. Therefore, the training course tests and supports every person that is selected to the full. Ultimately they will play an important part of the future of the business and it is essential that we provide a foundation for sustainable growth, as well as maximizing people potential throughout the organization.
